Why I grow orchids

Because during the darkest days of winter, they burst into flower.

Because they sit quietly on my desk while I’m working, and give me something beautiful to gaze at.

Because they add so much color to my living room, and they ask for so little.

That’s why I grow orchids.

  Sorry it took me so long to reply, CJ. That last orchid is a basic run-of-the-mill phalaenopsis, but it’s a miniature. I bought one and liked it so much, when I saw another one (both at Trader Joe’s for $10, if I recall) I snapped it up. The color got to me.
